Birth to Five Helpline mobile app launches for parents and caregivers seeking extra support
Mobile application where parents, grandparents, caregivers, early childhood professionals can get answers, learn from professionals about responding to a child’s needs
The best resource for parents with young children just got better — Southwest Human Development is launching its new Birth to Five Helpline mobile app.
Now with the touch of a button, parents and caregivers can get access to the tools they need to respond to range of issues or concerns for newborns to 5 year olds, just by downloading the Birth to Five Helpline app on their handheld devices from the Apple App Store (iOS) or from Google Play (Android).
Created and managed by Southwest Human Development, Arizona’s largest nonprofit dedicated to early childhood development, the Birth to Five Helpline app is a tool for anyone who interacts with children – parents, grandparents, caregivers, early childhood or medical professionals – and where no problem is too big or too small.
The Birth to Five Helpline app connects parents and caregivers directly to professionals who offer guidance to parents responding to challenging behaviors; sleeping issues; nutrition questions; safety matters; uncertainty about feeding and eating; potty training challenges; dealing with fussiness and colic; or just general child development and parenting questions or worries.
For 10 years, a compassionate team of experts has offered support and guidance to callers looking for someone to talk to confidentially through the Birth to Five Helpline – 1-877-705-KIDS (5437). The Birth to Five Helpline app expands access to this real-world expertise and provides critical information from true professionals who have access and knowledge of important resources in our community.
“Raising children demands time, effort and patience, but most importantly, access to the right resources and information,” said Southwest Human Development CEO Ginger Ward. “We understand many parents need support, whether it’s dealing with a challenging issue or simply by being a new parent. The Birth to Five Helpline app was created to make it exceptionally easy for parents to get the extra help and support they may need.”
The Birth to Five Helpline app is an addition to the Birth to Five Helpline and the Fussy Baby Program, which provides telephone and, in some cases, home-visiting support to help families navigate challenges associated with hard-to-soothe infants, excessive crying, sleeping problems and feeding difficulties during their first year of life. Together, they forged a way to help children through challenging circumstances and, in some cases; the Helpline conversations helped the parents help themselves in the process.
“If you need real information from professionals in the community who know how to help then the Birth to Five Helpline can provide it. You need the right resources, right away, to help your child,” added Ward.
