Camelback Ranch spring training volunteers benefit nonprofits

Do you love baseball and are looking for a fun way to give back to your local community?

Volunteers are needed to staff concession stands at Camelback Ranch spring training games throughout the month of March to support Valley nonprofit organizations.

Southwest Human Development, Arizona’s largest nonprofit dedicated to early childhood development and one of this year’s nonprofit beneficiaries, is partnering with Camelback Ranch to provide volunteers for concession stands at 11 games this season.

Four volunteer information sessions are open to the public and scheduled as follows:

• Tuesday, Jan. 31; 8-10 a.m.; Glendale City Hall, 5850 W. Glendale Ave., Room B2, Glendale

• Tuesday, Jan. 31; 3-7 p.m.; Dave & Buster’s, 9460 W. Hanna Lane, Glendale

• Monday, Feb. 6; 8-10 a.m.; Glendale City Hall, 5850 W. Glendale Ave., Room B2, Glendale

• Thursday, Feb. 9; 3-7 p.m.; Dave & Buster’s, 9460 W. Hanna Lane, Glendale

Attendance at a volunteer information session is not required. Volunteer sign-up and a complete list of volunteer shifts is available at www.swhd.org/baseball.

Volunteer duties may include set up and take down, preparing food, taking inventory, handling cash, serving beverages and more. All volunteers must be at least 19 years old, obtain a food handlers card prior to their March Spring Training volunteer shift(s) and attend a two-hour training session in February.

Spring training incentives will also be provided to volunteers who make multi-game volunteering commitments.

“Spring Training is always such an incredible time of the year here in the Valley,” says Annette Sutfin, volunteer engagement manager at Southwest Human Development. “We’re excited to be working with Delaware North at Camelback Ranch to raise some much-needed funding for our programs and services.”

Camelback Ranch, the Spring Training home of the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers, is located at 10710 W. Camelback Rd. in Glendale.
