A SWHD Parenting Education and Support Program
Navigating New Paths is a program designed to support children and their parents, caregivers, and families in Maricopa County. Navigating New Paths works with families to create goals to meet their needs through a relationship-based, trauma-informed, and family-centered approach.
The program offers weekly in-home and virtual visits focusing on supporting the parent-child relationship, strengthening parenting skills, enhancing family stability, and improving behavioral health outcomes for children.
Potential benefits of the program include improved child and family wellbeing and quality of life, enhanced caregiver confidence, reduced parenting stress, strengthened community partnerships and resource networks, and reduced long-term system involvement.
By providing individualized coaching, training, case management, and connection to community resources and natural supports, Navigating New Paths addresses the social and environmental factors that impact children’s mental and emotional wellbeing.

- Timely intake and comprehensive family assessment to tailor support
- Customized treatment plans aligned with behavioral health goals
- Trauma-informed parenting education and support
- Assistance connecting families to community resources, healthcare, mental health services, and other supports
- Ongoing monitoring to ensure progress and adapt services as needed
- Ability to serve families virtually, when requested by the family.
Optional Feature: An eight-week Circle of Security curriculum can be utilized.
Eligibility/Fees
Southwest Human Development accepts private pay and most AHCCCS health care plans.
Length of Service
Navigation New Paths offers short-term services, typically 4 to 6 months in duration. Services can be extended depending on the needs of the family, with an emphasis on a transition to natural supports.
