Volunteer

Support a Child with Your Time and Talents

Come volunteer with us!  Southwest Human Development needs volunteers like you to support our work for Arizona’s children and families.  There are many ways you can get involved.

Help our drives by coordinating efforts at your work, neighborhood or group — or help us organize donations at our warehouse for:

  • Gently Used and Virtual Book Drives
  • Back to School Drive
  • Gingerbread Kids Holiday Toy Drive

Support families by:

  • Helping to distribute books in our community
  • Sorting and organizing donations
  • Fundraising for key programs

Power our community events by:

  • Handing out books at the Festival of Tales events
  • Staffing the children’s games and activities areas of our annual Thrive to Five Playfest in March
  • Help with the Easterseals Golf Classic in November

To volunteer, call Tay Wright at (602) 545-0015 or email volunteer@swhd.org.

Service Enterprise Certification

Southwest Human Development is proud to partner with Points of Light and the Arizona Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family as a certified Service Enterprise.

The Service Enterprise Initiative serves to strengthen the capacity of nonprofits to fundamentally leverage volunteers and their skills to address community needs. Through a comprehensive research-based assessment, training, consulting and certification model, selected nonprofits are equipped with the tools and technical assistance necessary to support nonprofit Service Enterprise transformations.

Selected in 2016 as one of only 14 organizations in Arizona’s first cohort, Southwest Human Development received its formal accreditation in 2017. Learn more about the Service Enterprise Initiative here.
