Southwest Human Development’s programs for child care and preschool professionals have increased in response to a real need for improved quality in Arizona's child care settings.
Many factors influence a child's behavior and ability to learn, including how child care staff interact with children, how the classroom is organized and the kinds of activities available. Child care teachers are eager for this information, but struggle with how to get and use it in an environment of low budgets, low pay, and high child-teacher ratios. Through our programs, thousands of child care teachers – and the children they help prepare for school – are benefitting from just this kind of information.
Following are some of our child care training opportunities.
Our Training Catalog and Training Calendar feature 120 workshops covering 80 different topics. Registration is open for these Early Care and Education Training programs.
Emergent Leaders helps child care directors build leadership skills in teaching, advocacy and learning environments.
Quality First is a coaching, assessment and ratings system designed to improve early care and education in Arizona so young children can begin school safe, healthy and ready to succeed.
Smart Support partners early childhood mental health consultants with child care providers to promote the social and emotional development of all children in care, and help providers respond to children with behavioral challenges.
The Early Care and Education Inclusion program is designed to help child care providers support children ages birth to five with developmental delays or disabilities.
Each day nearly six million children under 3 spend some or all of their day being cared for by someone other than their parents.
