Our Giving Society

A premier philanthropic membership program

 
 

The Southwest Human Development Giving Society is the premier philanthropic membership program of the agency, recognizing and celebrating the generosity of our contributors. Our membership includes individuals who provide annual and lifetime gifts to the agency in support of Southwest Human Development’s critical programs and services. Their ongoing generosity allows us to serve more than 135,000 children and families in Arizona each year.

The contributions made by our Giving Society members ensure that Southwest Human Development can continue its mission to give all children the healthy foundation they need for an optimal start in life. Giving Society members provide annual support for Southwest Human Development’s programs in child health and development, Easter Seals disabilities services, Head Start, early literacy and training for childhood professionals.

Here are some examples of how you can make a difference in the lives of Arizona's youngest children:

Lifetime Member  |  $50,000 and up*
Sponsors five Reach Out and Read clinics for one year and serves up to 10,000 children. Pediatricians are trained in the theories of early literacy development and specific strategies to promote literacy in young children. At every regularly scheduled well child check-up, from six months to five years of age, children receive a new, developmentally and culturally-appropriate book to take home and keep.

Distinction Level  |  $25,000 and up
Covers the services of a Registered Dietician and a Developmental Pediatrician for one year in our Children’s Developmental Center to assess and create treatment plans for young children with developmental and/or behavioral issues.

Confidence Level  |  $10,000 to $24,999
Provides more than 83 children ten therapeutic sessions each, through the Good Fit Counseling Center, the only mental health clinic for young children under five in Arizona.  Time with our counselors will allow those children to get the help they need to get back on a healthy developmental track.

Opportunity Level  |  $5,000 to $9,999
Helps more than 600 parents get critical advice and information from our Birth to Five Helpline, Arizona’s only toll-free helpline for parents, families and caregivers of children birth to five.

Imagination Level  |  $2,500 to $4,999
Provides 50 children with custom, foam contoured seats from the ADAPT shop.  When utilized alone or with a high chair or car seat, products created from our ADAPT shop allows physically disabled children to participate in basic activities for the first time, like sitting upright, eating at the table, and more.

Creativity Level  |  $1,000 to $2,499
Provides 40 children with take-home books through the Raising A Reader program.  This workshop is delivered to families living in affordable housing apartment communities to promote positive parent-child interactions along with literacy skills.
