2010 Birdies for Charity Campaign
You can make Southwest Human Development a big winner during the 2010 FBR Open.
Once again Southwest is participating in Birdies for Charity, a program presented by Thunderbirds Charities. Between now and the end of play on February 28th, simply pledge 1¢ or more for every birdie that will be made by the PGA Tour players during the 2010 FBR Open and Southwest will receive every single penny of the collected pledges made in our name.
In addition, the Thunderbirds Charities will add a 10% bonus match for every pledge we receive. It is estimated that between 1,300 and 1,800 birdies will be made this year, turning your 5¢ pledge into a $75 gift to Southwest plus 10% from the Thunderbirds for a total of $82.50 to benefit our programs.
In order for Southwest to benefit from your pledge, please return a completed pledge form to us at the address shown before February 28th or follow this link to the online form and select Southwest Human Development (#76) from the dropdown menu. We must receive a minimum cumulative pledge total of $500 – so make your pledge today and ask your friends to do it, too!
For questions about the 2010 Birdies for Charities campaign please contact Julie Turko at jturko@swhd.org or 602-266-5976 x5110 or visit www.birdiesforcharityarizona.com.

Leave a Legacy
Southwest Human Development is a proud partner of Leave a Legacy Arizona, a statewide effort to promote giving through wills and other estate planning methods. Leaving a legacy through your will, life insurance, or trust is a simple act with a lasting impact.
$200 Charitable Tax Credit
Southwest Human Development is a qualifying nonprofit organization for the Arizona State Charitable Tax Credit which allows you to receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit, up to $400 if you file a joint return, on your Arizona state income tax. This is a tax credit, not a deduction. It reduces what you would otherwise pay in taxes to the State of Arizona.
Give Books
Donate books to the Reach Out and Read program, or sponsor a book drive at your workplace, church, or children’s school.
In keeping with Reach Out and Read’s philosophy that every child deserves high quality books, these guidelines will assist you with your donation.
- Used books must be gently worn (covers and pages intact, clean and readable).
- Our highest priority is books for children between the ages of birth to five years, however some books for older children are also accepted.
- Books about sensitive issues like divorce, abuse or death cannot be accepted.
- We also accept donations of new books. ROR has a list of recommended titles to choose from, carefully selected to meet the needs of children served by Reach Out and Read.
To schedule a book drive or make a book donation, please contact Alan Taylor at (602) 266-5976 or ataylor@swhd.org.
