Meeting the Emotional and Behavioral Health Needs of Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers

By fully launching two successful programs—Southwest’s infant mental health clinic and its professional training program—the Infant Mental Health Center advances the optimal social and emotional well-being of Arizona’s infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

Southwest’s infant mental health clinic the Good Fit Counseling Center offers emotional and behavioral health services to infants, toddlers and preschoolers facing life challenges such as abuse and neglect, parental loss, witnessing violence, and serious behavioral disorders. The Harris Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Training Institute operated in collaboration with Arizona State University’s Department of Family and Human Development, provides training programs with a multi-disciplinary approach to prevention and intervention work with children during the first years of life.

The Infant Mental Health Center provides:

• Multi-level mental health preventive and intervention services for children under five with varying degrees of problems

• Certificate programs for mental health clinicians and infant family practitioners

• Individualized seminars for professionals in the judicial, health and human service fields whose decisions have a direct impact on young children’s lives and well being
